> allow the main x/y/z grid to be expanded as a reference for larger objects > show distance numbers from origin on main x/y/z grids based on grid units > provide a way to reorder objects in the Project/animation window Perhaps this is just a Macintosh issue, but it is annoying. Often there is another number beyond the edge of the field. As it is, I have to double check to see if there are any hidden digits by clicking on the numbers and arrowing to the right.

Wider entry fields in the Transform palette so all of the numbers to the right of the decimal point show. Keyframes with curve handles on XY grid in project window (cfr Apple Motion and Flash).Remove textures from more than 1 object at once.It Would be great for the viewpoint rotation axes to be at the center of the selected polygon/point or object.Īlso a higher resolution interface would be nice and 64bit. :)įilbert: ha-ha, and thanks for the endorsement. But what we have now is way better than not having it at all and I am sure there are planned improvement for the system. : My hope is that in the future I will be able to give my subsets names, not just use the numbering system (I get lost with it after a few subsets, unless I keep notes), and that we can drag or apply a material directly to the selected polygons, just like we do with whole object materials. Glad you found it Mao, and glad we were able to knock one item off your list. is like saving a selection to reuse when needed. Ok dragging a texture to a selection of faces is better but. The subset system works well, it's not so awkward. Remember, your only as good as your last image. Christopher and Jpro including them in the new release packaging for home delivery. Step and repeat key commands like Illustrator.īetter navigation as per Mao's suggestion.Įither improve, or get rid of bones altogether.Ĭlone Mr. Using arrows key to move points when altering bezier paths or profiles. Maybe we can be there in a future version. I suppose this managing of all these options is a design nightmare for engineers.Ĭheetah's drag-and-drop material assignment is similar to the Strata paradigm. Modo's shader tree can easily get to complex and out of control. Modo needs to truly make their shader tree work like the Photoshop layering strategy they profess to have emulated. Strata's pop-up material dialog is vastly more intuitive than modo's Shader Tree. The poly select then hit a single key to assign materials or reassign them works well but a drag and drop approach like in Cheetah is my favorite way. Its shader tree is a complete daunting mess to work with at times I don't know that Modo is a model I'd want to emulate when it comes to shader/polygon assignments. because it is there now, and is quite usable, just a little awkward for now. I just want to be sure Mao has found it, and to be sure that no one assumes it is not there based upon Mao's statement. Strata's submesh material assignment is new, and needs refinement. Strata's material options just needs to be made more powerful, perhaps with SubSurface Scattering etc. It seems more organized and simpler to follow.

Now having said that, I prefer Strata's material set-up dialog box's approach.

In modo you select your polygons and hit the M-key to name/assign those you have chosen with a new material for which you can develop through it's material settings. I'll bet Mao really mean to say he wishes that tagging polygons in StrataCX7 could be streamlined or simplified. It could use a little refinement, but it is there, and I use it all the time. Mao, we have your number 4 already with version 7.

I agree with you.Ī full resolution backdrop system in the modeling windows that allows the use of true template images like most other 3D programs. (this features exist from the first release of 3Dstudio.) I think you can do it in 2012. about saving all settings in texture panel to a "supermaterial" to avoid starting everytime from scratch to simply apply the same combination of settings (texture used, tile mode, mix mode) and size properties of the texture.Ĥ).about giving different material to different polygons of the same object. about forgetting about using that small red diamond to do transforms and start using standard 3axis icons like all the 3D sw out there.ģ). without pressing space alt shift and so on.
